Terms of Service

1. What NoGuri Is

NoGuri is a map-based clean-air service for marking and avoiding secondhand smoke in shared spaces. Users mark active smoke, cigarette butts, designated smoking areas, and no-smoking zones, and view marks placed by others, so that non-smokers and people sensitive to smoke can keep their distance and breathe cleaner air.

Marks are awareness signals about places and the environment — not a guide to where to smoke, and not a means to identify or target people.

2. Eligibility

NoGuri is intended for users aged 14 and older. By using NoGuri, you confirm that you are at least 14 years old, or that you have verifiable consent from a parent or legal guardian as required by applicable law. NoGuri does not promote smoking.

3. Accounts and Your Responsibilities

3.1 Creating an account

You can look around NoGuri as a guest, without creating an account. As a guest the map shows the official no-smoking zones and designated smoking areas from public records; marks other people left need an account. Anything you mark is stored only on your device. To show the official zones, the app sends the map's centre point to our server; it is used only to answer that request and is not stored.

To take part — to see the marks other people left, and to share your own — you create an account with:

  • an email address and password, or
  • Google sign-in.

When you create an account, marks you saved as a guest are uploaded to your new account, except any that have become too old to still be accurate.

3.2 Your responsibilities

You are responsible for the accuracy and legality of what you submit. You must:

  • mark based on accurate, good-faith observations;
  • not post false, misleading, or malicious information;
  • not infringe the rights of others or violate any law;
  • not interfere with the normal operation of the service.

4. Prohibited Uses

The following are prohibited and may result in removal of content or restriction or termination of access:

  • Registering false, inaccurate, or deliberately misleading marks.
  • Repeatedly submitting incorrect information in bad faith.
  • Using marks to identify, surveil, photograph-target, dox, or harass specific individuals, or to single out a person rather than describe an environment.
  • Using the service to promote, advertise, or facilitate smoking or the sale of tobacco/vaping products.
  • Bypassing or attacking the service's security systems, or accessing another user's account without authorization.
  • Any activity that violates applicable laws or the rights of third parties.

5. User Content and Moderation

5.1 Your content

Marks and related information you submit are shared publicly with other users, who can view, confirm, hit, or report them.

5.2 Reporting and removal

You can report marks you believe are inaccurate, abusive, or objectionable. Marks reported by multiple distinct users are removed automatically, and we may remove content or restrict accounts that violate these Terms. To report objectionable content or abusive users, contact us at the address in Section 10.

5.3 Accuracy

NoGuri does not guarantee the accuracy of user-contributed information. All marks are voluntary contributions and may differ from actual conditions; use your own judgment when relying on them.

6. Disclaimer

NoGuri is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. To the extent permitted by law, NoGuri is not liable for:

  • damages caused by inaccurate information provided by users;
  • indirect, incidental, or special damages arising from use of the service;
  • temporary service interruptions, errors, or data loss;
  • errors or interruptions of third-party services (Google Maps, sign-in providers, hosting, etc.).

7. Changes to the Service

NoGuri may modify or discontinue all or part of the service. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of significant changes or of discontinuation within a reasonable period.

8. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms as necessary. We will post the updated version with a new date and, for material changes, notify you in the app. Continued use of the service after the changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

9. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Korea. Any dispute relating to these Terms is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the court having jurisdiction over the operator's location, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
